BeyondTheNest: Weekly e-newsletter for Rochester | |
Note from your publisher This weekend in Rochester offers a particularly appealing mix of arts, culture, and high-energy entertainment. Sports fans can catch the Rochester Red Wings during their opening-week homestand against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, or head to Blue Cross Arena for Rochester Americans home games on both Friday and Saturday. For music lovers looking for something a little different, the Strasenburgh Planetarium has a full
slate of immersive shows this weekend, including laser experiences set to the music of Elton John, Taylor Swift, and Pink Floyd, plus Stars with Carl, a live tour of the night sky under the planetarium dome. There’s also plenty on the quieter, more reflective side of the spectrum. The MAG is offering both hands-on creative energy with Saturday’s free Museum Makers program and thought-provoking exhibitions throughout the weekend, including Desire and Abundance: American Culture and Still Life and Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden. At RMSC, Astronaut: Where Science Meets Space continues, and the George Eastman Museum features work from the Flower City
Arts Center Studio 678 Photo Club. Whether you’re in the mood for a game, a gallery, a concert-like visual experience, or an afternoon of discovery, Rochester is giving us lots of good reasons to step out and enjoy the weekend. Happy Easter and Happy Passover to those celebrating! —Debra Ross, publisher P.S. Please note that due to this week's flooding, the 2026 Fishing Derby at Powder Mills Park, which was supposed to

Shockheaded Peter is a madhouse cabaret music box filled with stories of misbehaving children meeting their untimely ends! These stories hail from one of the most infamous children's books ever written, the German "Der Struwwelpeter" from 1845. Avant-garde, humorous, grim, and full of space for dance, mime, puppetry, music and creativity. Crow City Theatre is partnering with Rochester's own folk-rock duo Bolan Graham and Katy Rebholz to create a musical experience that will be simply unstoppable! Part concert, part art-fringe spectacle, all THEATRE. Crow City Theatre is beyond excited to continue to help audiences journey to worlds they never imagined.

What is CSA? Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) offers the opportunity for people, of a specific geographic region to support a local farm, the local community and the rural economy. Through annual enrollment (by purchasing a share) the share holder helps the farmer with much needed funds at the beginning of the growing season while knowing the share holder will receive (on a weekly basis once the picking season starts) the freshest possible produce grown by the farmer. It gives the share holder the chance to really learn about and know who is growing their food. If you are interested in our 2026 CSA please email info@gandsorchards.com for information.
